It belongs to the group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
Esomeprazole works by preventing the production of a substance called proton pumpinhibition which increases the amount of acid in the stomach and causes the contents of the stomach to produce more food.
It is important to note that esomeprazole 40 mg is not a controlled substance, and it is only intended to be taken as directed.
If you are taking esomeprazole, be sure to inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have and also about any medications you are currently taking before you begin taking esomeprazole. Using this drug with certain medications may increase the risk of serious side effects, such as liver damage, kidney damage, and the formation of a black hairy tongue.
To treat your condition, your doctor may prescribe an oral tablet called Nexium 40 mg. This medication should be taken at least two weeks before eating a meal that contains high-fat foods such as large meals ( fatty meals or those that contain fat ( oily meals ) ) or fatty snacks such as chips, biscuits, chocolate, and ice cream. It is important to take this medication regularly and at the same time to get the most benefit from it.
You should swallow this tablet with a glass of water with the help of a mouthpiece and a spacer device. The mouth and the mouthpiece should be cleaned daily with water and not more than one tablet in a day. You should not crush or chew the tablet. If you are using the mouthpiece and cleaning your mouth, rinse and dry your mouth and prevent further use of this medication for a few days. If you are using the mouthpiece and cleaning your mouth again, rinse and dry again. Do not use the mouthpiece and mouthpiece with any other spacer device, including your doctor’s office or clinic.
This medication passes into breast milk, but you must be sure to inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking and also about any supplements you are currently using.
